This week we finished working on the structure. It was down to the polishing up the vocal rhythms and melodies. To do this, I composed the main melody, and then got Adam to play the note at the octave above. I did this, because me and Zara have different timbres. I personally love the way female and male vocals work together. Songs that have this, typically impress me very much.
With a week till the performance I was nervous. The melodies in this video weren’t final either. However, after this practice I started listening to a band called “The XX”. As I felt that they were quite similar to what we were doing. In doing this, I discovered exactly what kind of melody I wanted. For the majority of the song, I wanted a very lowkey feel. With the vocals being quite dreamy. The XX also have a female, and male lead. The way their voices work together really motivated me to nail down exactly what I wanted to do.
In the end I’m quite happy with what we got down.
